You’ve been wondering what the all-new interior on the GMC Sierra will look like and now we have an answer. These photographs are HOT off the press and we only received them minutes ago.
Our amazing spy photographer just captured these photos and sent them over as soon as they could.
They give us our best look yet at the new interior expected to be a part of the refreshed GMC Sierra when it debuts later this year. We’re still unsure if it will be a 2022, 2022.5, or 2023 model, but the interior suggests a huge departure from the 2021 model.
Among the biggest changes:
- The column shifter is now a console-mounted shifter and appears to share the same shift level as the HUMMER EV does.
- Up and downshift paddles are located behind the steering wheel.
- The all-digital gauge cluster teased late last year is present
- The interior is not the same as in the GMC Yukon
- Super Cruise is not standard
- The steering wheel from 2019-2021 remains largely the same
- The Sierra appears to have Google Built-In, like the HUMMER EV
Our Spy Photographer Reports:
Signs Of Denali
The prototype appears to be a Sierra 1500 Denali, judging by the grille treatment visible behind the camouflage. Chrome trim, full-length running boards, and chromed tow hooks all line up with a Denali-spec truck.
New Infotainment Screen Revealed
A new instrument cluster has been already been teased, but now we get our first look at the truck’s overhauled center stack, with a new, ultra-wide infotainment screen topped by slim air vents. A physical knob would seem to control volume on the left side of the screen, while physical HVAC control buttons clustered below. Another row of buttons spans beneath the HVAC controls.
Signs Of Google
While depth of field challenges hindered our sharp viewing of the Sierra 1500’s new screen contents, there appears to be a Google search window open on the display. It appears that GM’s refreshed ICE pickups will be getting a version of the Android Automotive OS with the Google built-in capability that was just announced on the Hummer EV
Column Shifter Gone, Center Console Shifter Confirmed
The Sierra’s current column-mounted shift lever is replaced by a console-mounted shifter, visible in our interior shots.
Sierra Interior Different From Silverado?
We have only seen hints of the updated screen destined for the 2022 Chevy Silverado, but what we’ve seen looks like it might differ from the interior revealed on this Sierra 1500 prototype. We’ll have to wait for an uncovered look at the Chevy to make final comments, but it looks like unique displays could be in store for the two brands.
No Super Cruise
This prototype does not appear to be equipped with Super Cruise, judging by the plain steering wheel lacking the hands-free system’s lighted display. Super Cruise was teased on the upcoming Sierra 1500 in an earlier release, but it definitely appears to be optional on the Denali, at least judging by this particular prototype.
