Bmart
Tried to search for it but no luck. does anyone own a can/col with the 5.3? im not looking to trade in for a couple years probably but i was wondering everyones thoughts on the new combo. from what ive read on the forum, seems like people like the looks of the new trucks or they dont... i do. and it seems like most people dont think it has enough power or fuel efficiency to justify the high price (could get a silvy/sierra for same almost).... now that it has the same engine as the full-size trucks, has anyones opinions changed? i love the looks of em, and i dont need the big box and towing, so it seems like the can/col 5.3 might be just what will be looking for. pcoxe
I've got a Z71 4x4 with the V8. Drives good. Plenty of power for that size vehicle. Holds less than a full-size, but you can tow a large trailer that will hold considerably more than a full-size pickup if need be. I wouldn't want a larger vehicle when the ever decreasing size of parking spaces is considered. My only complaint would be that the bucket seats are uncomfortable. They were apparently designed for durability rather than comfort, but, after all, it is a truck. If GM would make the interior more SUV-like with regards to comfort and features, it would be a real winner. Tried to search for it but no luck. does anyone own a can/col with the 5.3? im not looking to trade in for a couple years probably but i was wondering everyones thoughts on the new combo. from what ive read on the forum, seems like people like the looks of the new trucks or they dont... i do. and it seems like most people dont think it has enough power or fuel efficiency to justify the high price (could get a silvy/sierra for same almost).... now that it has the same engine as the full-size trucks, has anyones opinions changed? i love the looks of em, and i dont need the big box and towing, so it seems like the can/col 5.3 might be just what will be looking for. cprudian
I have had my 5.3 Canyon for about 6 months now - am still driving my '99 Sonoma, too. The power of the new machine is quite a welcome change - and I like the way it rides. The new ratio steering has a great feel, very responsive, (don't sneeze, or you may be making unintended lane-changes) Yeah, the mileage is not great, but I try not to think about that too often - just turn the tunes up louder and escape from reality. The only other Beef I have about these trucks is that you cannot get the orange, and the sport suspension on the 2WD with the 5.3L I mean a 2WD with a 5.3 is definitely a sport truck! Why cant you get the sport suspension and the really hot color as a package. I mean it would scream Heat Score...but it would look so hot. Maybe that's just here in Canada though?? flattop
My son picked up his 09 Canyon 5.3 2wd extended cab ZQ8 a few weeks ago. He had a 04 Canyon with the 3.5 2wd reg cab. He loves it, says suspension and brakes are much improved. Fuel mileage is OK at best. He is averaging 17.5 with 75% city and 25% highway. I drove the thing last week and it has a lot of power, but no active fuel management and only 3:42 gears. Overall very good quality in a small package. A Colorado/Canyon with a 5.3L V8 would be a fast truck.
eastex
2010 White Z71 Crew Cab LT2 5.3 with 4.11 gears here. Truck drives and handles very well, has plenty of power, and doesn't get any worse mileage than the 2007 Extended cab Z71 Silverado I sold when I bought this one. The seats are comfortable to me and the wife, but then we got the heated full power seats, so they should be comfortable. It is the wife's daily driver and she is much happier with it than she was the Silverado. Turns on a dime, parks easy, and plenty of power and traction to go anywhere you damn well please. (If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy)
