305 60 18

Recommended Posts

I did a quick search and it does not seem that anyone has chosen 305 60 18 sized tires for their truck ( even though there is a large selection for this size...Micky Thompson, Dick Cepek, BF Goodrich, etc ).

Any particular reason why a "no go"? I would imagine that they would fit with a leveling kit...

Please shoot on any thoughts.

Thanks!

I'm guessing they will fit since the overall diameter and sizing should be the same as a 305/50/20 (which many of us run on these trucks with a leveling kit). On mine with a +20mm offset and 9.5" rim I get a slight rub in reverse at 3/4 lock turning if the cold pressures are under 36psi. If they are over 36psi then I get no rubbing at all. Making this work will be a function of having a wide enough rim for the tire (at least 9" better 9.5 or 10) with an offset that works for this truck.

Mine only rubs on the drivers-side fender liner fastener farthest inboard on the firewall side of the wheel well. I yanked out this fastner after I noticed it was sticking out farther then the rest of them and I don't have any rubbing now.

i have a size calc that says those 305s are actually smaller than the 285's. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

True, according to this calculator, they are 0.2" smaller in dia (less than a 1/8" on the radius), BUT they are 3/4" of an inch wider. The width is just as crucial for fitting without rubbing (at full turn).

I have 305/60/18 BFG KM2's with a rough country leveling kit. I had to trim the plastic fender liner slightly but it was no biggy. I have about 10,000 miles on the tires now and still love them, and they still look brand new.

I have 305/60 r18's on my 2006 1500HD, the rims are 5 inch back space had too trim the front bumper thing on the corner just a little bit. Still got mud flaps on too ahaha. It don't rub at all, no lift kit just torsion bars cranked about 1/2 way. Before that I had 33x12.5 Cooper discoverer STT's on stock rims had too get 1/4" wheel spacers so they didn't rub on the upper control arm. Gotta love the classic style chevs :-D can actually fit some tires under them. My buddy has a 2500hd duramax 2007 with a 6 inch lift with 35's and it stiiiiill rubs. Bigtime. They really have too do something about that...you can't get a decnt size rubber under the nbs chevs. My 2 cents

You are right about that! I am currently running 10" of lift with 35's and I plan on moving up to 37's when these wear out. I fear I may still have to trim. :P

oh ya man, they will rub for sure....and it's brutal cuz you can't get fender cut outs for those yet too eh??? I beleive? Cuz the back of the fender only has like an inch between the wheel well and the door...no room for a good set of cut-outs. If you got an ARB bumper that might solve your issue...although I think they rub on the back on those tho eh???

I've got 305/60-18's as well. I couldn't find much of a selection on this size, but I am very happy with my Dick Cepek FCII's. Mine rubbed more than I liked, so I put a slice in my rocker panel, tapped it back, cleaned and weather proofed it with rubberized truck bed liner. See sig for mods.
