Wheel Locks

Recommended Posts

Mine has factory as well. My dealership puts them on everything due to high theft of wheels. Please note, working in parts at a GM dealer, if you lose the key for the GM ones, the VIN number does not allow a dealership to order new locks. Its something I get asked a lot and its surprising how many people get upset about this. Sorry, just had to add that.

Mine too. My truck had them on from the factory.

Does anyone know the GM part number for these wheel locks? It looks like there are at least three GM part numbers for wheel locks, and I'd like to get the set that looks closest to the factory lug nuts on my wheels.

12498076 is W/O extended threads, $44.00 Canadian Retail and 12498075 for W/extended threads at the same retail. The $200 kit is likely a complete wheel nut kit that replaces every single wheel nut.

Thanks Jeremy. On the GM truck accessory website they also list part number 17802466. There are some good reviews on Amazon for this part, but the wheel lock is 49.9 mm long, almost 2 inches. The Gorilla wheel locks in 2plus2's photo are 1.5", and look about the right length, so I'm guessing the 17802466 wheel locks are probably a little tall and would stick out too far. I don't want to over think this, so might just save some money and get the Gorilla wheel locks.

The two numbers I listed are described as non-decorative, the number you found is described as decorative but that's ultimately the only difference. Even the "non-decorative" ones will look fine though.

Edit: just looked at the 12498076 umber in my stock... they're ugly, go with the decorative ones, I looked at them too and they're a lot nicer. lol

Jeremy, my dealer didn't have the "key card" that is supposed to be with the Owners Manual pack after installation that I needed to order a spare key. I always keep a spare key. So I contacted McGard, who actually makes the GM locks, and they said if I took a picture of the lock, they would send me a spare (I had already sent them a check along with a copy of the package that was in my glove box as proof of purchase and my truck sales paperwork).

You can refer them to McGard customer service for help. Whoever installs them should keep the paperwork, though.

Yeah, most people had no idea about the key card or anything for ordering and whenever trying to refer them to the manufacturer its usually a few weeks before they get the keys that are ordered and its normally an "I need it now" situation". and with 25-30 bucks for the key, plus shipping to Canada, most people get just the locks removed by force and replace them all and we show them the slip for future reference.
