Top Bed tie downs?

This may be a stupid question, but are our trucks supposed to come with 4 of the top bed tie downs that we can install ourselves, or is it something we have to buy aftermarket?

You can buy the GM tie downs or Aftermarket. I got the Bull Rings. Either will fit and work perfectly and install in about 2 minutes each. I don't think the trucks come with them unless you order it that way.

Are you talking about the plugs in the top sides of the bed or the stake holes on top of the bed rails?

If the former some trucks come with them if they are listed as an option on your sticker.

If it is listed and you did not get them then check with your dealer.

My truck did not come with them and it was not listed as an option on the sticker, so I bought some from a forum member.

The stake holes at the top of the bed rails are aftermarket only AFAIK.

They're either a dealer installed option from the factory or an add on accessory, they are not standard on any trim.

That is correct.

To repeat what was just said, even if you order them "on" the truck they come in a box on the back floor board and are dealer installed at time of PDI.

Thanks for your help guys. Look like I'll be having to buy some. Had my bed sprayed with Line X last week, and had them take off the plastic covers on 4 of the upper toe downs so they wouldn't be sprayed over. Any type you recommend?

I bought the factory ones, but those bull rings look nice in that they can be retracted.

There are also some available by Dee Zee that are lower profile than the factory style.

Unless there is a critical strength requirement that you would have to check max ratings for, it really comes down to your choice.

I've been real happy with the Bull Rings. And they're retractable, so they're not going to stick out and scratch anything you might have loaded in the bed.

They must have come standard on mid optioned and higher 2014 GMC's. I test drove two and they both had the box of tie down rings in the back seat.

Are you sure they were not on the option list on the window sticker?

The tie downs are standard on the LTZ and the High Country. I had a set in the backseat when I purchased the truck last year.

Got a second set off EBay

BTW the GM versions are rated at 350 lbs each.

They were not included in my LTZ. I was told they were included in High Country only for Chevy. Got mine off eBay.
