Switch mounting options for 2014 Silverado

Recommended Posts

As the title says I'm looking for ideas on how to mount at least 3-4 switches in my 14 Silverado LT Z71. I'll be mounting a few of the rigid industries up and I'll be using the switch that comes with the harness. Any and all ideas are welcome. Please post pictures if you have any.

Thanks in advance

Rick

I saw somewhere that someone took out one of the round plug ins in the center console, and replaced it with a switch. Even had the plastic cover to flip over it. I can't seem to find that picture again though.

I have bench seats. Was thinking at the base of the center seat by the lock for the lower compartment below the seat cushion but don't think there is enough room depth wise for the switches to fit.

Damn, I had a good spot for those with a center console and bucket seats. Look and see if there are any hidden compartments. Maybe even put it on the flat plastic trim on either side of the steering column below the guage cluster. Wouldn't be a bad spot. Also if it is near the ground then you run the chance of having something rolling on the floor hitting it or someone's foot unintentionally hitting the switch. You could even put a switch in the overhead console. Have seen that before and it looks cool if done right.

Where do you plan to mount that at though?

Anyone know of a way to have an ON-OFF-ON switch installed into an spod system? I like the system but like that fact of turning on the rear lights I'm planning on installing independently on one "top ON position"and also them being able have them turn on when I go into reverse - the other "bottom ON position".

I'm thinking I'd like to mount my rigid switch in one of the round plug ins on the console. It almost fits perfect, just not deep enough where I can flip the plastic lid over it. If you find the link to where the guy did that pls share

Mike where is this good spot you have for SLTs with center console and buckets?

I dont have the trailer brake option so I mounted 2 switches in the top of that useless hole above the headlight switch. Its pretty inconvenient tho for switching off my front light bar when oncoming cars are approaching. I am moving at least the front switches to the inside of the front bucket near where my knee is on the console (bucket seats)

It's behind the lip of the of the center console map holder (side compartment right next to your leg). It's on the forward end of the map holder. I will have to take a pic. I have my light bar switch there and it's perfect. No drilling was required and when the switch is turned off and the Ed light is shining, it helps illuminate the area and since it's red and all the dash lights are red, it looks like it should be there since the entire switch is hidden.

Here is my spot for my Rigid switches. I liked having them up on the dash where I could see when they are on but are still a little hidden by the steering wheel. GM provided a great interior so I didn't want to mess with the appearance too much.

I will add two more on the opposite side behind the gear shift when I am ready to expand to keep balance in the appearance.
